House Rules

Check-in is 4:00 pm or later. Early check-in is subject to availability. Please check with us regarding fees for early check-in. Check-out is at 10:00 am. A $100 fee will be charged for every 20 minutes past 10:00 am. After 1:00 pm, an additional one night’s fee will be automatically charged to your account plus the applicable late fee.

The landscaper will be scheduled for weekly maintenance on Tuesday or Wednesday, weather permitting. The pool technician will be scheduled for weekly maintenance on Fridays. If you have a pet, please make sure they're safely tucked inside.

Only the number of guests listed in the reservation are permitted to be on the property unless the host is notified and approves the additional guests in advance. Quiet hours are from 9 pm-8 am. Host reserves the right to discontinue reservation if quiet hours rules are violated and penalties may apply.

There are security cameras throughout the exterior of the property. Noiseaware sensors can be found inside and outside of the property. The purpose of these sensors is to notify hosts if the noise is sustained above a certain threshold. Normal conversation will not trigger alerts.

No smoking is permitted inside the home. Smoking is only allowed outside. All windows/doors must be closed and all cigarette butts disposed of properly. Vomit, stool, or blood on the property is considered a biohazard cleaning and will result in extra fees.

There is a pet fee of $100 which covers up to two pets. All pets must be authorized prior to check-in.

The reservation holder will be held liable and responsible for all guests at the property, including damage/incident fees incurred during the stay. Guests are responsible for placing all trash in the receptacles. Smart home thermostats are available for guests. Windows/doors must be shut while running heat/AC. Temperature can be adjusted on-site, but temperature limits are set.

Pool Rules: There is no lifeguard on duty. Swim at your own risk. No glass is allowed in the pool area.

The pool/spa can be heated upon request, but fees may fluctuate based on the current market price to compensate for the rising SDGE natural gas prices. Please inquire about current pricing and promotions. The pool and spa heater are remotely operated on a smart device by the host. Please let the host know in advance, preferably at the time of booking, if you would like pool or spa heating. Note that it can take up to ten hours to heat the pool to 82 degrees, especially if it is cold outside. Fees must be paid before heating can commence.

Do not tamper with pool equipment. Weekly pool cleaning is every Friday. Our pool technician has been instructed to knock on the door before he goes into the backyard, but if no one answers the door, he will get started on cleaning the pool. Please do not burn objects or drop food items on the outdoor fire table.

The space
Indoor/Outdoor living reigns at this dream San Diego retreat! The property features a main house, detached guest house, and custom game room that share an exceptionally fun outdoor entertainment area. Each building has a separate entry door off this open-air tropical paradise and the entire space is fully fenced for added privacy and security. A huge veranda with pool, jacuzzi, sun lounging spots, covered dining, and BBQ grill is where the action is day and night, while a side courtyard with fire table, comfy seating, and event lighting is perfect for intimate soirées. There’s even an inviting conversation area with great views on the front of the main home that provides a quiet reprieve from the group.

MAIN HOUSE:

The main house is a beautifully remodeled residence with an open kitchen/dining/living social space, 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths. Guests will love hosting dinners in the designer kitchen with double ovens, 2 sinks, gas range, a wine fridge, and convenient bar seating for 4. The adjacent dining space has a large table for 8 along with a super cool all-in-one billiards/ping pong/dining table to accommodate more. The stylish sitting area has all leather furnishings and no matter where you are in this open space you can easily watch TV and be part of the action.

In the main house are 4 bedrooms in a split plan that allows everyone a private space to retreat to. Bedroom configuration in the main house:

Bedroom 1: Twin bunk bed + full ensuite bath w/ walk-in shower (sleeps 2)
Bedroom 2: King Bed + Twin Bed + Twin Roll-away bed w/ reading nook (sleeps 5)
Bedroom 3: Twin-over-Queen bunk (sleeps 3)
Bedroom 4: King Bed + Twin Bed, + Twin roll-away bed, ensuite full bath, & private access to backyard (sleeps 3)

All 3 bathrooms have gorgeous custom tile work and high-end finishes. Bedroom 4’s ensuite bathroom has a luxurious wet room with soaker tub & rain shower + dual vanities, and the full bath shared by bedrooms 2 & 3 has a shower/tub combo. There is also a huge laundry room with sink and storage that is perfect for keeping with pool days and excursions to the beach.

GUEST HOUSE:

Across the veranda is the guest house offering a flexible layout that is ideal for accommodating different groups such as extended families or friends traveling together. Five can comfortably sleep in this stylishly remodeled stand-alone home which features a full kitchen, sitting area w/ TV and futon, 2 bedrooms, and a full bath w/ dual sink vanity and walk-in shower. Bedroom configuration in the guest house:

Bedroom 1: Full size bed (sleeps 2)
Bedroom 2: Twin-over-twin bunk bed (sleeps 2)
Common Area: Futon (sleeps 1)

GAME ROOM
A third separate under-air space, the custom game room (that doubles as the 7th bedroom) is a favorite hang-out spot with foosball, air hockey, Pac-Man arcade table, pop shot basketball game, and a smart TV. Two lucky guests can also claim their sleeping spot on the room’s queen murphy bed!

The entire house and grounds including the guest house, game room, pool, entertainment veranda, courtyard, laundry area, driveway and front yard are exclusively available to guests. You will enjoy complete privacy throughout the property.

Your health and safety is our top priority. We perform an enhanced deep cleaning process between every reservation, with special attention to frequently touched surfaces.

The residence has a central HVAC system and the outer buildings have split units to keep the temperature comfortable year-round.

This home is in a family-friendly residential neighborhood – neighbors are not to be disturbed, especially during the overnight quiet hours. All cars must park in either the driveway or the street.

There is a pet fee of $100 per pet and this fee covers up to two pets. Small dogs are acceptable; however, cats are not permitted.

Neighborhood overview
Nestled in the rolling hills of San Diego County, the Del Cerro neighborhood is surrounded by outdoor recreation opportunities, renowned cultural attractions, fun entertainment options, and easy access to retail and commercial areas. Our home is just 1.3 miles to San Diego State University, plus the area is famous for its near perfect climate, walkable neighborhoods, family friendly experiences, and endless supply of everything needed to create a fantastic vacation.

The area’s abundant hiking and urban trails help tell the story. Just 5 minutes away is Mission Trails Regional Park home to Cowles Mountain and beautiful Lake Murray. The park’s rugged hills, valleys and open areas encompass more than 8,000 acres of both natural and developed recreational area with 60 miles of trails, and the lake offers swimming and boat rentals for fishing.

At 1,591 feet Cowles Mountain is the highest point within San Diego city limits. From the summit, on a clear day, you can see the ocean. You also can see into Mexico and the rest of San Diego County. The main trailhead is 3 miles away, at Navajo and Golfcrest, which has a parking lot and restrooms. From there, a trail goes up the western slope of Cowles Mountain. It is a three-mile round trip to the summit and back, with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain and loss. The trail cuts through brushy, rocky chaparral; on a clear day you can expect no shade but exceptional vistas. Take lots of water and sunscreen!

Mount Helix, 10 minutes by car, is another great hiking spot that offers panoramic views and on clear days you can see all the way to Mexico from its summit, too.

Be sure to also check out La Mesa’s "Secret Stairs", a system of public stairways in the Mt. Nebo/Windsor Hills area that are ideal for a good cardio burn when navigating the challenging steep ascents. Families with younger children will love Harry Griffen Park with its large grassy area, playground, and outdoor stage featuring summer concerts and more.

For fresh produce, the La Mesa Farmers' Market is held every Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on La Mesa Boulevard between Palm Avenue and 4th Street. A Vons grocery store is located 1 mile from the house, and there are several restaurants, shops, and a Starbucks within walking distance, too. Retail shopping options abound at nearby Grossmont Center (1.6 miles) and Parkway Plaza Mall (6 miles).

Hit the Pacific Beaches in about 20 minutes with several great options to choose from including Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, La Jolla Shores Beach, and Coronado Beach. For breathtaking views and the most amazing sunsets that you will ever see, visit Sunset Cliffs Natural Park – definitely an Insta-worthy spot you don’t want to miss.

Additionally, all the area’s popular attractions are within a 15-mile radius from the property: Several breweries, a local wine tasting room, Downtown San Diego, Liberty Station, Balboa Park, Old Town, Sea World, Sea Port Village, concert venues, and so much more!
Getting around
Our property is easily accessible via I-8 and the 125 Freeway, and the overall area is best explored with a personal vehicle. There is private parking for 2 cars in the driveway. Street parking is available for additional vehicles but is extremely limited. The house is within walking distance to Lake Murray and the Lake Murray run trail..
